In einem Land in dem die Sonne nie wirklich untergeht, bleibt selbst in der Dunkelheit ein Schimmern und Leuchten. Und wenn Du die Augen schließt, umhüllt Dich dieses matte Zwielicht, führt durch die Nacht und bildet ein schwer zu definierendes, ganz eigenes Universum voll esoterischer Dichte und weitläufiger Gedanken.
Nun, beginnen wir gleich mit dem womöglich einzigen Makel dieses Albums:
Mit knapp 29 Minuten haben wir es hier mit einem doch
sehr kurz geratenem Album zu tun.
Und ich gehe einmal davon aus, dass die drei KollegInnen mehr zu erzählen und mitzuteilen haben als das, was hier in sieben Songs präsentiert wird. Nehmen wir das einfach mal zur Kenntnis und sehen es als Einstimmung auf zukünftige gemeinsame Produktionen.
Wenn dann auf diesem Album aber das schönste Lied des Jahres vertreten ist, ist schnell verziehen.
If You Love Me You Will Lie passt mit nur knapp über zwei Minuten Dauer wunderbar zur oben erwähnten Makel.
Und, meine Lieben, wenn ich mir wünschen könnte, welcher Titel auf meiner Beerdigung gespielt werden soll.. das hier ist er.
Twilight Sad Frontman James Graham, Kathryn Joseph und Marcus Mackay pressen hier alles aus sich heraus und in die Rillen, was man mit melodramatischem Apocalyptic-Folk voll beschwörerisch unklarer Geheimnisse betiteln könnte.
Herrlich ihr schottischer Akzent, der den Klängen noch eines drauf setzt und in ihrer Originalität nicht zu überbieten ist.
Eine grandiose Hymne reiht sich an die nächste.
Eine dunkle Angelegenheit, mit einfach wunderschönen Arrangements und zwei Stimmen, die sich gesucht und gefunden haben.
Zusammengefunden haben die drei beim Outskirts Festival, verstanden sich gut, schrieben ein paar Songs in denen sie Interviews von Besuchern des Glasgower Platform Centres auf ganz eigene Art interpretierten und schwermütig nun sehr intime, zart gegliederte und bildreiche Geschichten vertonen.

In a country where the sun never really sets, even in the darkness there is a glow and shine. And when you close your eyes, this matte twilight envelops you, guides you through the night and forms a very unique universe of esoteric density and far-reaching thoughts that is difficult to define.
Well, let’s start right away with the probably only flaw of this album:
With its only 29 minutes it is a very short album.
And I assume that the three colleagues have more to tell and share than what is presented here in these seven wonderful and let your mind sparkle-songs. Let’s just take note of that and see it as an introduction to future joint productions.
But if this album contains the most beautiful song of the year, it’s easy to forgive.
If You Love Me You Will Lie is a wonderful match for the above-mentioned flaw with a duration of just over two minutes.
And, my dear ones, if I could wish for the title to be played at my funeral… this is it.
Twilight Sad frontman James Graham, Kathryn Joseph and Marcus Mackay squeeze everything out of themselves and into the grooves, which could be titled with melodramatic Apocalyptic folk full of evocative, unclear secrets.
Wonderful her Scottish accent, which adds another touch to the sounds and is unsurpassed in originality.
One grand hymn after another.
A dark affair, with simply beautiful arrangements and two voices that have sought and found each other.
The three of them got together at the Outskirts Festival, understood each other well, wrote a few songs in which they interpreted interviews of visitors to the Glasgow Platform Centre in their own way and now, melancholically, they play very intimate, delicately articulated and pictorial stories.
