Schweden, wieder mal Schweden.

IT’S FOR US

Me: So, thank you for taking some time for my questions.. 😊
It’s the first time I hear something about IT’S FOR US.
Who are you? What have I missed?
Camilla: We’re four persons from Sweden, doing music together.
You’ve missed one album and two ep’s 😀

Me: Your greatest success in music business so far?
Camilla: Getting signed on Novoton!!!

Me: Did you play all instruments on your own?
Camilla: Our producer Jon Bordon did some nice piano-stuff on Huddinge.. Except that,
Yes indeed, everything.

Me: Your sound is discribed as Postpunk..
I would see a few similarities .. with Bands like Lush, Gliss, Duke Spirit & Dilly Dally. Would you agree? What are your favorites, what are your influences?
Camilla: Haha, great! Never listened to any of those above though. I think a lot of our influences comes from things and art that is far away from the post punk-scene, life, art, relations and all. But we like Joy Division 😉

Me: What was your mainly reason for making music?
Camilla: Just a need, I guess. Wanted to play the guitar and then I wanted to have a band, and then sing and write songs. I Guess it was a way of expressing myself from when I was a teenager and nowadays it’s a natural way of communicating.

Me: On your new album there are titles called The Dream Is Over, Stay, Destruction, No Apologies.. sounds a bit of dark & depressive, isn’t it? But it sounded much more like kind of looking forward, get out of the dark, am I right?
Camilla: I’m really happy that you feel that way about those songs. I’ve been having difficult times. And like everybody, I do struggle with life, like everyone else. Hard times will come to everyone sooner or later, and you just have to deal with it, in the best way you can/are able to. I do music, and of course it will show 🙂

Me: If you’ve got the chance to meet any person you adore no matter alive or dead.. who would this be and why?
Camilla: I’d really have loved to be living in Paris in like the 20’s.

Me: What are your personal albums for the lonely island?
Camilla: Highway 61 revisited- Bob Dylan

Me: Any plans for touring Germany or Austria?
Camilla: Yes!!

Me: A wish for the new year?
Camilla: Touring Germany and Austria ❤

Me: Thank you so much, hope to hear more from you soon…
Camilla: Thank you! ❤

Stay

Sweden, Sweden again.

IT’S FOR US

are
Camilla Karlsson (vocals & bass), Jon Gredmark (guitar), Rebecka Johansson (keyboards & vocals) and Alex Nilsson on drums.

The four are now back with their new album
Stay
on which they remain true to their forward moving power-electro-trash mixture and with the voice of Camilla have a shining, varied iron in the fire.

Before the release, I had the opportunity to ask Camilla a few questions.

Stay
opens a door to the past with wavy electro sounds and manages the balancing act between dark and pop sounds, rolls over us and bombards us with synths and thundering basses. New Order could be added to the bands mentioned in the interview in the series of bands that could be mentioned when asked: How do they sound?
Or also Blondie, Siouxsie or Anne Clark (if she ever could sing)…

Like icy splinters the guitars and the echoed voice and the haunting melodies bore themselves into our brains, you’re constantly bouncing your feet up and down… to be shaken up like a corner-bearer and feel a urge to move, and to long for the old times back in the gothic disco… that means something.

My favourite The Closing catapults into our head within seconds and turns out to be such a catchy tune… Surely he will appear in one or the other favorite song list of the year 2019.

What some years ago The Capsules and Eternal Death managed to do, namely to regularly sound the bathroom and from there the whole house, here is a new soundtrack.

An album, which is fun from the front to the back with really horny melodies – and with which there are still a lot of things to discover.
