Irgendwo zwischen den Cranberries und Desperate Journalist mit geballter Ladung Freude und dem Bedürfnis, all das, was schon lange gesagt werden sollte, in Form von krachig-schönen Indie-Pop-Songs hinaus in die Welt zu transportieren in diesen seltsamen Momenten des Jahres 2020.
Es geht um die Liebe, die Unwägbarkeiten des Lebens an sich, um die Angst vor einer ungewissen Zukunft, den Verlust von Kontrolle, von Gefühl und Nähe. Ihre Songs haben einen charismatischen Drive, dem man sich nur schwerlich entziehen kann. Grundsolide und sympathisch, spannend und unterhaltsam, mit dem gewissen Mehr an eingängiger Melodie und dem gewissen schrägen Unterton, der sich in kritischen als auch ironischen Lyrics zu uns drängt, sich aufdrängt, hängenbleibt.

In Los Angeles, it’s sunny all the time and beautiful but there’s fire and earthquakes and rising sea levels. Our songs often sound upbeat and happy while being about difficult or dark topics, so I’m not surprised I’ve ended up out here.”
Es macht Spaß ihnen zuzuhören, es verbindet die good old times des Punk und Independent-Rock mit schillernden, bunten Synthies, die sich zwischen Gitarren und der wunderbar einprägsamen Stimme von Lauren Denitzio aneinanderketten, zu einem enganliegenden Halsband verschmelzen, das einem auf angenehmste Weise diesen Druck ausübt, der noch ein bisschen und noch ein wenig mehr aus uns herausholt.
Es ist eine Suche, eine Suche nach dem erfüllten, nach Gewissheit und Sicherheit, in einem Leben, dass nicht so verläuft, wie man es sich vorstellt, weil immer und immer wieder von der Gesellschaft aufgestellte, normative Regeln als normal und erstrebenswert erachtet werden, dabei aber die einzelne Person, das Individuum Mensch, außer Acht lassen, nach Akzeptanz und Toleranz für die Dinge, die einem persönliche wichtig sind.
Songs, die Dich umarmen, Dich zu halten vermögen, die keine Grenzen akzeptieren, die episch scheinen und gespickt sind mit Möglichkeiten, sich selbst zu entdecken und vielleicht dazu beitragen, sich im Hier und Jetzt (besser) zurecht zu finden, ohne Vorgaben und Bestimmungen, aber mit jeder Menge Herzblut und Identität.

is the name of the new album from
WORRIERS.
And it’s a real hoot. An energetic front woman who sings down everything in her path.
Somewhere between the Cranberries and Desperate Journalist with a concentrated load of joy and the need to transport everything that should have been said long ago out into the world in the form of noisy, beautiful indie pop songs in these strange moments of 2020.
It’s about love, the imponderables of life itself, the fear of an uncertain future, the loss of control, of feeling and closeness. Their songs have a charismatic drive that is hard to resist. Solid and sympathetic, thrilling and entertaining, with that certain extra of catchy melody and that certain weird undertone that pushes itself towards us, imposes itself, gets stuck in critical as well as ironic lyrics.

It’s fun to listen to them, it combines the good old times of punk and independent rock with dazzling, colorful synths, which are chained together between guitars and the wonderfully catchy voice of Lauren Denitzio, merging into a tight collar, which exerts this pressure on you in the most pleasant way, which brings out a little bit and a little bit more of us.
It is a search, a search for the fulfilled, for certainty and security, in a life that doesn’t go the way one imagines it to, because over and over again normative rules set by society are considered normal and desirable, but ignoring the single person, the individual human being, for acceptance and tolerance for the things that are important to every one of us personally.
Songs that embrace you, that are able to hold you, that do not accept any boundaries, that seem epic and are full of possibilities to discover yourself and maybe help you to find your way (better) in the here and now, without guidelines and regulations, but with a lot of heart and identity.
