Es ist ein Album, dass das Zeug zum ganz großen Ding hat.

Es klingt, als wäre man mal eben „Schwupps!“ in den Spiegel gestiegen und im Wunderland herausgekommen.
Märchen, Fairy Tale, Theater, Country, Folk und Kabarett.
Eine Stimme, die einen durchaus auch mal verunsichert, die einen umschlingt und Dich durch die Pfützen zerrt und mitreisst, die groß tönt, die genausogut aber die leisen unscheinbaren Töne trifft und wie einen Dartpfeil in der Mitte der Scheibe sich butterweich in Dein Herz bohrt.
Wenn man einen Song zum ersten Mal hört und beim Hören fast die Tränen kommen, dann muss da irgendetwas dran sein.
Paper Crown ist so ein Titel.
Ein Songs des Jahres.
MIt einem wirklich grandiosen Video.
Sie kommen aus einer kleinen Stadt in Texas, Lockhart.
Sie besitzt einen Laden für Second Hand Klamotten und er sammelt seltene Schallplatten.
In der Stadt gibt es einen Glockenturm. Und viele viele Kühe.
Insgesamt strahlt Lockhart diese unbeschreibliche, diese seltsam aus der Zeit gefallene Old-West-Atmosphäre aus.
Zwischen Mittelalter und Folk-Pop-Enchantment, es zerreisst einem das Herz wenn Natalie ihre Stimme reisen lässt, auf und ab, ein stetes unstetes Hin- und Hinüber, zwischen Wildheit, Eleganz und freundschaftlicher Erhabenheit, zwischen Erzählkunst und dem Nebenbei, dem schönesten vorstellbaren Nebenbei. Ein wirres Durcheinander, wie ein Stapel alter Zeitschriften, in denen man plötzlich einen Artikel entdeckt, der irgendwie Dein Leben verändern wird.
Wie das erste Schlecken am Lieblingseis bei erwachendem Frühlingssonnenschein.

Seltsam, spontan und von mutiger Entschlossenheit, dem Alltag ein Schnippchen schlagend, überraschend und erfrischend wie ein Bad im Bergbach in der aufgehenden Sonne.
Sie klingen niedlich. Was fast eine Herausforderung darstellt, sie nicht zu unterschätzen.

Unverhohlen zurück in der Zeit, vintagelike. Und doch mit seinem Twee-Jingle-Rhythmus unausweichlich betörend.
Wie in einem Horror-Psycho-Filmssequenz, die man sich immer und immer wieder anschauen möchte. Geheimnisvoll, verwerflich, unheimlich und mitsamt seinen unaussprechlichen fast magisch anziehend.
Wie ein Wiedersehen mit einem Freund, den man schon lange Zeit nicht mehr getroffen hat.
Neu, vertraut und wunderschön.
Es ist magisch. Stets unerwartet, immer auf’s Neue überraschend und unerwartet.

Overall, Lockhart exudes this indescribable, this strangely out-of-time Old West atmosphere.
Between medieval and folk-pop enchantment, it tears at your heart when Natalie lets her voice travel, up and down, a constant unsteady back and forth, between wildness, elegance and friendly grandeur, between storytelling and the incidental, the most beautiful incidental imaginable. A tangled mess, like a stack of old magazines in which you suddenly discover an article that will somehow change your life.

A breeze ruffles your hair, an unexpected visitor, you still in your pajamas, a kind word in the morning, even before the first sip of coffee.
